Some Lessons From History

Are we going to get to watch the sequel to Eugenics in the USA? For fucks sake.

Well, at least basketball season is here, and there are games to watch almost every night! My pro team is the Denver Nuggets, and they are led by the best player on the planet. My college team is the Colorado State Rams, and they are about as well-coached as anybody in the nation. So both of my teams are always fun to watch this year.

But beyond that ... ughhhh. To today's links ...

Eugenics, Part Two.

Musk suggests support for replacing democracy with government of ‘high-status males’
The theory suggests that the only people able to think freely are ‘high [testostrone] alpha males’ and ‘aneurotypical people’

For fucks sake.

Today in me shaking my fist at the clouds and at my fellow Gen X white men.

Based on the information we have now, young white men were more likely to support Harris than any other age group. Man-O-Sphere garbage is clearly a problem but Gen X white dudes are more right-wing and far more likely to vote.

Big Oil is taking over our government once again. There will be the usual greenwashers like Charles Koch. And some folks who have removed the mask (like the public transit murderer Elon Musk) will be there, too.

Despite the ambitions of those rapacious assholes, the climate fight continues.

Speaking of climate and public transit. A big topic I will focus on in this weblog is Project 2025's declaration to gut federal funding for our best community investments.

David makes this important big-picture point here.

Transit agencies are in dire need of $$, and the federal government will offer none over the next few years. It's all up to states and cities to avoid a downward spiral. This is exactly the right move, and not a moment too soon. www.politico.com/news/2024/11...

Also, stopping congestion pricing in NYC was one of the stupidest political moves of this cycle.

Here's one more from David. If you need to get from point A to B in one of these machines, it's beyond time to go smaller, cheaper, and smarter! Bonus! You'll support a car company that is not owned by Elon Fucking Musk.

MotorTrend ... gets it? "Finally, a company who thinks modern day pickup trucks are entirely too big and expensive and has a plan to do something about it." www.motortrend.com/features/ine...
